Energy Star Appliances

Energy Efficient and ENERGY STAR Appliances from Mrs. G's

Mrs. G Appliances believes in the value and benefits of the ENERGY STAR message and the importance of sharing it's benefits with our customers.

When it comes to shopping for and comparing energy efficient appliances and home electronics, look for the ENERGY STAR and EnergyGuide label.

Energy Star
What is ENERGY STAR?

ENERGY STAR is the symbol for energy efficiency, as designated by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The ENERGY STAR label can be found on energy efficient appliances and electronics. More than 90% of American households recognize the ENERGY STAR label. The typical household spends nearly $1,900 a year on energy bills. With ENERGY STAR, you can save 24% or about $450 in household energy costs while helping prevent climate change. For more information on ENERGY STAR appliances, visit www.energystar.gov. ENERGY STAR will list all current qualified energy star appliances so you can compare models. They not only include appliances like dishwashers, washers, dryers, and refrigerators, but also lighting, electronics, and heating and cooling equipment.

Mrs. G Appliances is proud to be an official partner of ENERGY STAR. All qualified ENERGY STAR appliances in our showroom display the ENERGY STAR logo and our sales associates are well trained to convey how energy efficient appliances can help our customers protect the environment while saving energy and money.

What is the EnergyGuide Label?

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, has created the EnergyGuide label to help you compare the energy use of different models as you shop for an appliance. The label will show you the annual energy consumption and estimated yearly operating cost for each appliance so you can compare. The numbers are averages, and actual costs will differ somewhat depending on how you use them. The more energy efficient an appliance is, the less it costs to run, and the lower your utility bills. If there is an ENERGY STAR logo on the the label, then it indicates that the model meets strict criteria for energy efficiency.

Energy Efficient Dishwashers

A standard-sized ENERGY STAR dishwasher can save you an average of 3,870 gallons of water over it's lifetime and costs about $35 per year to run. Saving water helps protect our nation's water supplies. ENERGY STAR certified models reduce energy and water consumption while improving performance, thanks to features like like soil sensors, improved water filtration, and more efficient jets.

Energy Saving Dishwashing tip: Do not rinse your dishes before putting them in the dishwasher! Scrape food off dishes instead of rinsing them before loading the dishwasher and save up to 20 gallons of water per cycle. If your dishes are going to sit in the dishwasher overnight, use the rinse feature, using a fraction of the water needed to rinse by hand.

Save more with an ENERGY STAR Refrigerator

If you are upgrading your kitchen to include energy efficient appliances, don't forget about the refrigerator. The biggest energy user in your kitchen is the refrigerator. ENERGY STAR refrigerators are about 9 percent more energy efficient than models that meet the federal minimum energy efficiency standard. Replacing your old refrigerator wiht a new one that has earned the ENERGY STAR could save you more than $220 over the lifetime of the refrigerator while you help reduce climate change.

Washer and Dryer Energy Savings

There's also room for energy and money savings when it comes to laundry. The average household washes about 300 loads of laundry each year. An ENERGY STAR certified washer uses about 25% less energy and 33% less water than regular washers. This can save you nearly $370 in energy costs over the life of the washer and even more with an ENERGY STAR washer/dryer pair, all while making a difference for the climate.
