Low price and high efficiency make room air conditioners an inexpensive alternative to central air for cooling one or two rooms. By choosing an energy star qualified air conditioner, it would prevent 1.2 billion pounds of greenhouse gas emissions, the equivalent emissions from 100,000 cars. Energy star qualified room air conditioners often include timers for better temperature control, allowing you to use the minimum amount of energy you need to cool the room.

Many people buy an air conditioner that is too large thinking it will provide better cooling. However, an oversized air conditioner is actually less effective and wastes energy. A properly sized unit will remove humidity effectively as it cools.

Using the square footage and the chart below, determine the correct cooling capacity. Cooling capacity is measured in British thermal units (BTUs) per hour.

Make any adjustments for the following circumstances:

  • If the room is heavily shaded, reduce capacity by 10 percent.
  • If the room is very sunny, increase capacity by 10 percent.
  • If more than two people regularly occupy the room, add 600 BTUs for each additional person.
  • If the unit is used in a kitchen, increase capacity by 4,000 BTUs.

Shop For Barbeque Grills at Mrs. G TV & Appliances in NJ- We are your Outdoor Kitchen Headquarters!

The hottest trends in kitchen design is in your own back yard. Your home is the ultimate expression of who you are, which is why your landscape should be as well-appointed, warm and inviting as the interior. Outdoor Kitchens today are fully functional cooking areas - perfect for entertaining your friends and family. Outdoor Kitchens equipment offers many immediate advantages over conventional indoor cooking. For instance, foods you may love, such as fish or curry, generate lingering odors and are better cooked and enjoyed outdoors.

The most important Outdoor Kitchen Equipment is a great outdoor grill. These can be freestanding or built in models ranging from portable in size for tailgating to a 54" grill to entertain a large party. Higher end grills come with 20 to 25 thousand BTU per burner. Manufacturers have different technology to produce the high power burner. Research is vital to select the brand that best suits your needs and budget. Pro Sear Technology or Infrared Cooking Surface is a feature that has become more popular over the years. Offering extreme temperature ranges from the high intensity heat needed for searing for those Pittsburgh style steaks to the gentle temperatures required for seafood.

Outdoor Refrigerators and Beverage Dispensers are a great addition to dining alfresco. The outdoor refrigerator will make sure your favorite brew or nicely aged Chardonnay stays at the perfect temperature. Other complimentary products are available for those who seek added convenience as well as accoutrements required of a complete, full service Outdoor Kitchen. They include icemakers, warming drawers, storage drawers, and refreshment centers. Viking offers a wide selection of stainless steel cabinets that will keep you from running back and forth to the kitchen. All you need for a perfect backyard outing are some wonderful guests and a day of sunshine.

We specialize in Weber Outdoor Grills and we are an authorized dealer for the new Weber(R) Summit(R) Grill Centers, offering outdoor enthusiasts more prep and storage space than a standard grill alone at a very affordable price. We have many Weber grills on our showroom floor ready to take with or fast delivery. We also have a fine display of both the Viking and Lynx Outdoor Grills and Accessories with refrigeration, cocktail pro, 42" grill, warming drawer and trash compactor. Also on display is the Wolf and Lynx 36" grill on a cart and the Viking 41" on a cart. We have guaranteed lowest pricing on all our products including the outdoor barbeques and accessories.

Mrs. G TV & Appliances has one of the largest selections of outdoor barbeques and accessories in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Stop by our showroom to see real-world examples of each and speak to our knowledgeable staff for help in choosing the right barbeques grill and outdoor kitchen accessories for your home and budget.

Designer Kitchen Appliances & Cooking Products

Ranges, Cooktops and Wall Ovens

Selecting your kitchen appliances depends on whether you are looking for design or performance, the type of cooking you will do, and of course, how much you are willing to spend. Choosing a range or cook top and wall ovens can be a challenge. An all in one range is one of the best kitchen appliance values, with many brands offering great performance with designer or professional style. If you are redoing your whole kitchen, consider the cook top and wall ovens. The ovens can be placed at the height that is right for you and the cook top can be located some other place in the kitchen.

Induction Cooktops and Ranges

There are great new kitchen designer appliances available today like induction cook tops and ranges. Actually, induction cook tops have been around for quite sometime but only popular outside of the United States. Induction cook tops are powered by electricity and look like smooth glass electric cook tops but the heat energy is supplied directly to the pot or pan by magnetic field. The performance of the heat is as good, if not better, than gas. It reaches a boil in record time and has a simmer that can't be beat.

Microwaves

Microwaves have come a long way. Homeowners selecting a microwave to fit in with their other designer kitchen appliances are often looking for high speed convection along with other features that will allow them to use it like a second oven. These microwaves are great for busy families on the go. They have the ability to cook a 5 pound roasted chicken in 40 minutes that looks crispy on the outside and is moist and tasty on the inside. Check out the new microwave drawers that are so innovative and convenient.

Warming Drawers

The perfect compliment to your selection of designer kitchen appliances is a warming drawer. It can keep food warm for hours and can help stage an elaborate meal, holding each course at the perfect temperature and moisture levels until it is time to serve. Warming drawers come in all finishes, but the most popular is an integrated unit that can be outfitted with a wood panel. This way your guests will never even know it is there, and it becomes a perfect compliment to the rest of your designer appliances.

Mrs. G's Selection of Dishwashers

Stop by our newly renovated 20,000 square foot showroom to browse the wide variety of dishwashers available from Mrs. G's. Our inventory includes all of the most popular and recognized brands, such as Frigidaire, Bosch, and KitchenAid. Our highly knowledgeable sales team can help you find the dishwasher that is the perfect fit for your kitchen.

Energy Star Rated Dishwashers

When shopping for a dishwasher no matter what your budget, we always recommend that you choose one that is Energy Star qualified. Earning an Energy Star means a dishwasher uses much less water than conventional models, which in turn helps protect our nation's water supplies. It also can save you up to $90 over its lifetime thanks to its energy efficiency.

Variety of Dishwasher Options

You can pay $800 or more for a dishwasher with a Stainless Steel tub, hidden controls, digital displays, and special grime fighting cycles. But when it comes to clean dishes, first-rate performance can start at less than $500.

Dishwasher technology has improved over the last few years, and as a result dishwashers are at their quietest. If the noise level of a dishwasher is a factor for you, it is best to compare models based on their decibels. The lower the decibel number the more quiet the appliance is. 50 decibels is a good benchmark, but if you want the quietest appliance possible, you should look for a dishwasher with a 42 decibel rating. These ultra quiet dishwashers tend to come with the most options and special features; therefore you can expect to pay a premium for these models.

If you want your new dishwasher to fit seamlessly into your kitchen, look into integrated models. These can be hidden with a wood panel, and as a result have become the most popular choice for a brand new kitchen. While hidden controls also add style, cycle progress isn't obvious at a glance. Make sure the brand you select truly integrates into your kitchen design.

Trash Compactors

A trash compactor can reduce the volume of trash by 75%. A little space in your kitchen and some general maintenance and you can reduce your daily chore of taking the garbage out to a weekly one. Mrs. G's has a large inventory of trash compactors, from undercounter to freestanding, stainless steel and fully integrated so you can match with other appliances and the overall kitchen decor.

Laundry

Wide Inventory of Laundry Appliances

Mrs. G's has the finest selection of name brand washers and dryers in their appliance showroom. Our staff is well-versed in the range of laundry appliances available, and will be able to match you with the washer and dryer that is best suited to your specific needs, budget, and space allotment.

Which Washer is Right for You?

Washers have become increasingly efficient over the past ten years. When shopping for a washer, no matter what your budget is, make sure to choose those that are Energy Star qualified. Earning an Energy Star means a washer uses less water and electricity than conventional models. Saving water not only helps protect our nation's water supplies, it can also save you up to $550 in operating costs over its lifetime compared to a regular clothes washer. In addition, try to look for a high spin speed washer, as your laundry will require less time in the dryer, also saving power and reducing operating costs.

When choosing a washer your options are either a top load or a front loader.

Most front loaders offer superior performance and efficiency. They also have a better moisture extraction in the spin cycle, which equals a shorter drying time. The spin speed of the front loaders is high, around 1000rpm, so it can create a lot of vibration throughout the house. It is not recommended to put these appliances on a level other than the first floor or basement. If it is necessary to put it on another level, make sure you reinforce the floor. The front load washer's door must be left open for about 45 minutes after the clean clothes are removed. This allows time to dry out the droplets of water left in the rubber gasket around the rim of the door. If the door is not left opened, mold and odors will grow. There are products available, such as Afresh, to remove mold and odor.

There are quite a few high efficiency top load washers that can go toe-to-toe with the front loaders. Besides the variety of models available and their affordability, top load washers are easier on your back and are not as vulnerable to the mold and odor problems of the front loaders.

If space is limited, there are also stacked washer/dryer combos where the dryer is attached above the washer. Typically, the size of the loads you can wash are smaller, but these stacked washer/dryers are great solutions for tight spaces or small apartments.

No matter which high efficiency washer you choose, make sure you use low sudsing, HE, detergent. All brands carry this type of detergent; just look for the HE (High Efficiency) on the side of the container. It is important to not use regular detergent in high efficiency washers, as this will cause them to over suds and the unit might go into lock down.

Which Dryer is Right for You?

Dryers have changed relatively little over the last ten years in comparison to the washer. When you are choosing a new dryer, you must first narrow down your choices to either an electric or a gas dryer. From there you can choose between top loading and front loading models. If you have a bad back, then consider brands like Fisher Paykel who offer top load dryers which minimize bending and lifting. Steam assist dryers are becoming a popular choice, as refreshing your clothes with steam is quick and easy. Models including the steam assist option can come with a premium price for the added benefits they offer.

A Wide Variety of Televisions

Shopping for new electronics can be very confusing. 1080i, 720P, 1080P, HDMI, Blu-ray, what does it all mean? We can help. Whether you're shopping for LCD, Plasma, or DLP HDTV'S we've been helping our customers in New Jersey and eastern Pennsylvania select the best TV to fit their style and needs for more than 73 years. Mrs. G's electronics store has a large selection of high-definition widescreen TV's from many manufacturers in our showroom.

Selecting the proper television type is very important and a few questions should be answered. Take into consideration the size of the room, how far away will you be sitting from the TV? LCD flat-panel TV's are made in sizes from 15 to 65 inches diagonally. Plasma flat-panel HDTV's are available from 42 to 71 inches diagonally. DLP rear-projection HDTV's are available from 57 to 73 inches diagonally.

Does the room have a lot of ambient light? LCD and DLP HDTV's have plastic screens so they do not reflect light making them suitable for all lighting conditions. Plasma sets are made of glass so some are not suitable for brighter rooms.

Do you want the TV wall-mounted and if so what type of wall mount? Then LCD or Plasmas are the only choices available. When considering a wall mount there are three main choices: flat mount, where the TV sits flat on the wall with no adjustments; tilt mount, basically a flat mount but allowing a slight tilt up or down; or articulating bracket, perhaps the most versatile choice, allowing the TV to pull away from the wall with tilt and swivel capabilities.

Answering these questions can help narrow the confusing selection of HDTV types that are available today and ultimately help in selecting the best TV for your home.

Refrigerators

When selecting a refrigerator, size is more important then style. Most refrigerators purchased today are to replace old ones. It is very important to measure the existing refrigerator space. The height is critical since most newer refrigerators are taller than the older models and the width is important since refrigerators have a variety of widths.

When you have selected a refrigerator that fits your style, space and budget make sure the new refrigerator can get through hallways and doorways and when in place you can fully open the doors. If the doors cannot be opened all the way, make sure it can at least open 90 degrees. Not all refrigerator crisper drawers and shelves can be removed for cleaning when the doors are opened at 90 degrees. Check the specifications.

Refrigerators use more energy than any other appliance in the kitchen. Consider energy star models. Energy star qualified refrigerators provide energy savings while helping protect the environment without sacrificing the features you want.

Freezers

When selecting a freezer decide how much capacity you need. Freezers are available from 5 cubic feet to more than 18 cubic feet. There are two types of freezers: Chest or Upright. Both come manual or automatic defrost. Manual defrost models are less expensive and are quieter and more energy efficient. However it is time consuming defrosting manually. Choose a chest freezer if you are prone to power failures. Chest freezers lets out less cold air when the door is opened. Finally, choose models with power-on light on the outside of the freezer so that you can see the unit is on with out opening the door.

Consider Energy Star Freezers. Energy star qualified freezers provide energy savings while helping protect the environment without sacrificing the features you want.

Icemakers

For many years, stand alone ice makers were only found in the most expensive homes. Recently, however, these handy appliances have been becoming commonplace in more modest homes. Fitting neatly underneath the countertop, stand alone ice makers have evolved into convenient appliances that can easily be integrated into kitchen designs.

There are two types of ice makers. clear cubed ice that requires a drain and crescent cloudy ice, no drain required. The clear ice models will be more expensive, noiser and require more maintenance than the cloudy ice. Make sure you consider the noise level when choosing the location of your icemaker. Clear cubed ice just looks better in a tall glass of ice tea or a short glass of scotch.

Maintaining your ice makers requires cleaning the gasket as needed, clean condenser coils once a year, and cleaning the water system every 6 months.

Wine Coolers

Whether you are buying wine to drink today or saving wine for a special occasion a refrigerator wine cooler is the best way to ensure it's stored properly. To protect your investment in whites or reds, sparkling wine or champagne, it may be necessary to purchase a wine cooler.

Why buy a wine cooler instead of storing it in a refrigerator. Wine needs to be kept at a constant temperature in order to preserve its color, taste and quality. Refrigerators temperatures are generally lower than wine cooler temperatures and the continuous opening and closing of the refrigerator door causes the temperature to fluctuate.

Another reason to invest in a wine cooler, when a guest sees a wine cooler in your home, an immediate connection is made with luxury and class.
